The brief was – capture portraits of the western suburbs community, typifying the need for essential community services such as mental health care, medical care, community and food relief. The images needed to say ‘community’ and have a ‘natural feel’.

The brief was ‘light and breezy, you know like a good cleaning product …’. Sure! no worries, but on the day it was a very bleak rainy and freezing day at  the Elsternwick location. LIGHTS! LOTS OF LIGHTS!!

Usually the brief goes something like this “I need a image that say’s I’m the boss but approachable, he is really busy so you’ll have to be really quick and he never smiles for photos … will that be okay?”

Of course it is okay! Your CEO is just like the others I’ve photographed … It is possible for them to have a good experience with a photographer and you get your desired outcome.

Below is the Justice Kevin Bell, President of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. He wanted a friendly ‘we are working hard’ [hence the rolled up sleeves and no jacket] message for his annual report photo.
